He won a six-month professional deal with Jose’s Mourinho’s Inter Milan after appearing on Sky One’s television show Football’s Next Star.

The winger (pictured) admits that the experience is one that he would not swap but that, after two years, he was happy to be renewing his football career in England.

He said. “It was a worthy experience being over there for almost two years. Playing for Inter Milan and having that on my CV is just unbelievable.

“I could have made a professional career out in Italy. But I didn’t want to live out there, it was best to come back now as I’m still young.

“When I was loaned out for two months I got used to the language. I got into the Italian lifestyle then but I realised that I wanted to play football and live in England.

“It was good to work with players like Javier Zanetti and Mario Balotelli. Looking back on it, it’s just unreal, but when I was out there I was just training with normal people.”

As for Mourinho and their relationship once the cameras stopped rolling, Greenhalgh explained: “He is obviously a hard man to get in touch with but you saw him every now and again.

“He would come up to me and shake my hand and ask how I was getting on. But even that would do for me as he is the best manager in the world at the moment.”
