Biker critical after country road crash

A MOTORCYCLIST is in a critical condition in intensive care after he crashed his bike in a country road at Bredhurst, near Gillingham.

The man, from the Sittingbourne area, suffered serious chest injuries in the accident, which happened about 11pm last night.

It is believed he was found lying in the road by a member of the public who called the emergency services. His Suzuki motorbike was found nearby.

It is not thought any other vehicle was involved in the crash which happened in The Street.

The road was closed for more than five hours while crash investigators carried out a full investigation. It was not re-opened until about 4.30am.

A spokesman for Medway Ambulance Station said: "The man, who is believed to be between 30 and 40-year-old had suffered serious chest injuries and paramedics used advanced medical techniques to stabilise him before he could be transported to hospital."

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "The man's condition is described as critical but stable."
