A MAN and a woman arrested after a police raid on a house in Medway have been released.

Army bomb disposal experts were called in after suspicious substances were found at the property on Nelson Road, Gillingham on Friday morning.

The pair were arrested on suspicion of the production of controlled drugs. They were bailed pending further enquiries.

A road block and cordon were put in place and residents in neighbouring houses were evacuated while the substances were checked. They have now been allowed to return to their homes.

The subtances found have been sent for further analayis.

Ch Insp Des Keers said: "I’d like to thank people in the area who appreciated why we had to close the road."
