A man raped and abused a young girl because he wanted to show her what adults do, a court heard.

Jurors were told Brian Thrale warned the girl no one was going to have sex with her before he did.

Canterbury Crown Court heard the 62-year-old was said to have sexually touched the youngster, asking her: 'Does it feel good?'

Thrale, of Marshlands, Dymchurch, then allegedly forced her to wash his body and performed a sex act in front of her before beginning to rape her.

Charlotte Newell, prosecuting, said: "He told her he was going to take her virginity to show her what adults did.

"He ignored her protests. She told him to stop, but he didn't and told her no one was going to do it to her before he did."

The girl is said to have scrubbed herself so hard later that she bled.

A second girl who claims she was sexually abused by Thrale said she was touched, saw him performing a sex act and that he sent her pictures on her mobile phone of his bottom and genitals.

The alleged victims, now adults, both claim to have spoken up after being abused, but Miss Newell said: "No action was taken."

The second girl is said to have told friends and teachers about what happened to her and police were called. Thrale was arrested over the claims in 2003, but the complaint was withdrawn.

It was only in September 2010 that the first alleged victim went to police, followed shortly after by the second woman.

When arrested in April 2011, Thrale told police: "I haven't got a clue what is going on."

He is on trial charged with three rapes and five indecent assaults between 1988 and 2000.

Thrale is also accused of two indecent assaults, one sex assault, one charge of sexual activity with a child and one charge of exposure.

The offences are said to have been carried out in Hythe and Folkestone.

Thrale, who is on conditional bail, denies all the charges and the trial continues.
