A bus shelter was damaged after a lorry and a car crashed at the Aldington and Smeeth crossroads on the A20.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the smash which happened at the accident hot spot about 5pm on Thursday.

The driver of the car was trapped and an Ashford fire crew, using hydraulic cutting equipment, had to cut him free.

It is suspected he suffered a broken arm, and he was taken to the William Harvey Hospital along with the lorry driver who suffered a back injury.

There have been a number of accidents at the crossroads over the past few years and anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact PC Steve Haines on 01233 611055.
