Café badly damaged in fire

A Kent café was almost completely destroyed by fire overnight.

Fire crews were called to the scene near the Blue Bell Inn on Beltring Road, Paddock Wood at around 2.25am Friday.

At its height 24 firefighters were tackling the blaze. Crews were still at the scene on Friday morning damping down.

An incident support unit also went to help because there was a concern there was asbestos in the roof of the building.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue said the café was 80-90 per cent destroyed by the fire.

The cause of the blaze is being investigated - but it is not thought to be suspicious at this stage.
