Caravans and cars wrecked in huge blaze

FOURTEEN caravans and five cars were destroyed in a mystery blaze in the compound of the Shadoxhurst Garage near Ashford early this morning.

Firefighters from Ashford and Tenterden faced exploding propane gas cylinders in the touring van at the winter storage depot.

Another four mobile holiday homes and two cars were damaged in the massive blaze, but the brigade teams using foam and water to fight the flames prevented the fire from spreading to another 30 vehicles parked in the tightly packed area.

Fire investigators were at the scene this morning trying to establish the cause of the blaze.
