Chatham artist gives birth to condom art

Sorry, this video asset has been removed.

What did a Chatham artist do with
2,000 condoms in 22 days? He gave birth to a modern
artwork.

Christopher Sacre poured
750kg of liquid plaster into 2,000 rubber contraceptives, to
create an installation for the Nucleus Arts Centre in Chatham
high street.

Christopher, who is profoundly
deaf, says his choice of medium has inevitably provoked some
reaction: ‘I think they expected something like landscape paintings
or statues, but this is rather different.’

The exhibition runs from Saturday
October 9 to Thursday October 21 2010 and is open Monday to
Saturday 10-5pm.
