Workers were evacuated from Chatham Docks this morning following a gas leak scare.

Emergency services were called to the industrial docks in Gillingham, pictured left, following reports of a tank leaking gas at 8am.

Around 20 firefighters and three fire engines went to the site, which had been evacuated by the time crews arrived.

A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesman said the leak started in a tank containing liquid gas, but was confirmed empty soon after firefighters arrived.
