Reckless children poured petrol down a drain before setting it on fire.

Fire crews and police were called to Chattenden, in Medway, last night.

A concerned member of the public raised the alarm in Elmwood Road at around 9.50pm.

Luckily, there were no injuries.

A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesman said: "We were called out to make sure there was no fire still burning and to assess the environmental impact.

"It isn’t the most sensible thing for kids to be doing.

"I am sure it looked very good and it was quite fun, but it could go wrong and a child could get burnt.

"It is a concern that we have a volatile, flammable liquid being poured down a drain."
