A church could be forced to move if KCC pushes through plans to sell-off the land it occupies.

The congregation at Allington Baptist Church has launched a campaign to stop the sale of its site in London Road, Maidstone.

There has been a church on the site for the last 30 years, and it has been a Baptist church since 1995. Under KCC's plan, it would be developed for flats and an alternative church site would be found.

Jeff Wilkinson, Chairman to the Trustees of Allington Baptist Church said: “We are very disappointed that KCC is not giving us the opportunity of securing a long lease on this site which is so centrally placed in the community. We provide services to schoolchildren, retired and disabled people, mums and toddlers and a whole range of other activities”.
