Climate Camp Countdown - 100 pack public meeting

Organisers of next month's Camp for Climate Action attempted to dispel local concern about their planned week of protest at a meeting last night.

The question and answer session at the Sturdee Sports and Social Club, Hoo, was part of renewed effort to persuade residents to join their proposed Kingsnorth take-over.

The group wrote to every home in the Hoo area to let people know why they want to come to Kingsnorth and to invite them to question and answer session.

Around 100 people attended, including farmer Mark Batchelor, who owns two thirds of the land surrounding Kingsnorth Power Station, the focus of the week long camp due to start on Sunday, August 3.

He says his farm will be on the frontline for efforts to shut down the coal fired plant on the proposed Day of Action on August 9.
