Collection takings stolen from church

THIEVES stole cash from the back room of a church while a service was in progress.

Police are seeking witnesses to the theft, which took place at St Peters Church, Canterbury Road, Westgate-on-Sea between 10.50am and 11.10am on Sunday.

About £200 was taken.

Officers want to trace a man and a woman seen hanging around at the back of the church just before the discovery of the theft.

The man is white, in his late teens, 5ft 9in, of slim build with fair hair. He was wearing a fawn shirt and fawn trousers.

The woman is white, about 5ft 7in, with fair hair and was wearing a light-coloured blouse and jeans.
