Comedian goes back to school

Award winning TV Burp comedian Harry Hill will be back at his old primary school today Monday (June 9) to lend his weight to the campaign to get the sports field re-opened.

Children at Staplehurst Primary School have been unable to use the field for two years and look like missing out on their second sports day in two years after contractors failed to carry out drainage works correctly.

In July 2008, Kent County Council sold part of the field to the West Kent Primary Care Trust to build the Staplehurst Medical Centre on the condition that adequate drainage was installed.

Negotiations are now going on between KCC and Provian, which contracted the work out, to get it completed.

Nicola Stonebridge, vice chairwoman of the parent-teacher association said: "We hope the attention that Harry's visit will bring will force the contractors to repair the damage and enable our pupils to use the field for sports and recreation, including our annual sports day."
