A Gillingham XI side suffered a 2-0 defeat at Concord Rangers on Tuesday night.

Assistant manager Ian Hendon (pictured) took charge for the match with a Gills team predominantly made up of trialists and youngsters.

The Gills were able to give Mark McCammon a run-out late in the game and he had a goal harshly ruled out for offside.

Things didn’t start well for the Gills as French trialist Gomez Dali limped off in the warm-up and they also lost defender Aaron Leacock to injury midway through the game.

Ryman League, Premier Division side Concord Rangers took the lead on 68 minutes when Kayan Kalipha latched onto a through-ball and tucked it home low past Lance Cronin.

It was a busier than expected night for Cronin, who made a number of good blocks.

The lead was doubled when on 79 minutes Dave Collins struck a low shot in past sub keeper Daren Hawkes from 25 yards.
