Kent County Council's gritters are ready for a dusting of snow

Kent's gritting teams have been hard at work treating the county's major roads in preparation for a cold night.

And their forecasts say there is the potential for snow.

A post on their Facebook page says: "Clear periods for a time this evening may allow temperatures to fall below zero with the chance of an icy patch or two.

"However, cloud will already be thickening from the north this evening and, after 9pm, there is the potential for an area of light snow to head in from the north.

"The exact track of this snow is uncertain at present but forecast models suggest that snowfall will mainly affect the western half of Kent.

"The snow should start to peter out again going into tomorrow morning and a few clear spells could develop in the east.

"The western half of Kent looks to be at greatest risk, with the prospect of 1-3cm of accumulation in places.

"The eastern half of Kent is likely to see a thinner dusting of snow. However, even in the west, some areas are likely to see little, if no, accumulation based on current forecast models."
