A couple have admitted causing suffering to a dog, cat and reptiles.

Scott and Maureen Beaumont committed the offences while living at Canterbury Road, Charing.

They both pleaded guilty to causing suffering to a German shepherd dog, a cat, a green iguana, a blue tongued skink and a white monitor lizard.

The dog was too thin, the cat had a collar on that was too small and caused injury and the reptiles were all underfed.

They were also found guilty of not providing a proper environment for the animals.

The couple, now living in Grove Road, Chatham, were ordered to carry out a 130-hour community punishment order and pay £1,500 in costs.

RSPCA chief inspector Steve Dockery said: “These animals were being kept in appalling conditions.”
