A MOTORCYCLIST died in hospital shortly after his 750cc Suzuki was in collision with a car at Birchington, near Margate. Jason Pedrick-Harvey, 35, from Broadstairs, was thrown from the machine and treated at the scene by ambulance crews.

He died later at the Queen Mother Hospital, Margate. The accident happened on Thursday night at the Canterbury Road junction with Queen Berth Road.

Police say the motorcycle was heading towards Margate when it collided with a VW Golf which was turning out of Queen Berth Avenue onto the main road towards Birchington.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or who saw the motorcyclist moments earlier in the area are asked to phone Thanet police 01843 231055. An inquest will be held by North East Kent coroner Miss Rebecca Cobb.
