Three of the five men injured in a crash on the outskirts of Canterbury on Thursday night remain in hospital.

The accident happened on Littlebourne Road at 9.55pm when a Nissan Almera going towards Littlebourne left the road and hit a hedge.

The driver and four passengers were taken to the QEQM hospital in Margate.

A 21-year-old man from Ash and teenagers aged 16 and 19 from Canterbury are in a serious, but stable condition in hospital.

The other two men, both aged 20 from Canterbury and Ash, were released after treatment.

A police patrol had earlier spotted the vehicle but was not following it.

Officers investigaing the crash want to talk to the driver of a car that was travelling towards Canterbury and may have seen the Nissan going in the opposite direction.

The accident happened near Old Priory Farm.

The road was closed between Bekesbourne Land and Swanton Lane overnight for an accident scene investigation. It reopened on Friday morning.

Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 01622 798538.
