Garry Richards is set to put pen to paper on a new Gillingham deal on Thursday.

The central defender (pictured) was offered new terms by manager Andy Hessenthaler after his previous contract expired.

Richards, 24, joined the Gills from Southend United in January 2008 and he’s gone on to make 77 appearances for the club, including a Wembley outing in the 2008/09 League 2 final.

He will become the last of the out-of-contract players to clarify his future.

Dennis Oli, Mark Bentley and Barry Fuller have all agreed new deals, while keeper Simon Royce opted to move to Brentford.

"I like him," said Hessenthaler. "He’s got a great attitude towards the game and he’s a player that will give us everything he’s got."
