Motorists faced delays on the M2 bridge after two separate incidents this morning.

The London-bound carriageway of the motorway was closed for about an hour after a man was injured on the A2 at Cobham, at about 10.45am.

Police say they had reports he was somehow trying to cross the busy road and was struck by a vehicle.

He has not thought to have suffered life-threatening injuries, but did sustain an injury to his leg and was taken to hospital for treatment.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "Police were called to reports that a pedestrian had been in collision with a van.

"The London-bound carriageway was closed for approximately one hour to allow emergency services to deal with the incident."

Shortly after the incident, officers were called to the coast-bound carriageway of the motorway bridge, after it was discovered a man's body was found below it at Medway Valley Park.

Officers closed the hard shoulder on the bridge for at time so the matter could be investigated.

It is believed the dead man fell from the bridge at some point earlier in the morning, thought to be at about 11am.

Motorists are being advised to take care while the hard shoulder closure is in place.

The spokesman confirmed a fatality had occurred which was not related to the earlier incident on the other side of the carriageway.
