TWO people have been killed in a crash involving three vans and a maintenance vehicle on the M20.

Kent Police say the crash happened at about 10.30pm last night near Hythe.

The three French-registered vans were involved in a collision with a Highways Agency vehicle on the London-bound carriageway near Junction 11.

The vans were travelling in convoy when the tragedy happened. One of the drivers was dead when fire and rescue teams arrived. Another died as they battled to free him from the wreckage.

A third is being treated in hospital for his injuries. Debris was scattered across the motorway.

A section of the road was closed for some hours but re-opened at about 8.30am.
