Dover Athletic and Tonbridge Angels played out a goalless draw in Blue Square Bet South at Crabble on Saturday afternoon.

The two sides largely cancelled each other out with chances at a premium and the majority of the game being contested in midfield.

Ed Harris went close to an opener with a looping header over the bar on the half-hour while Billy Bricknell saw a shot deflected narrowly wide five minutes before the break and two minutes later George Purcell lashed over when well-placed.

Tonbridge's best opportunity came on 50 minutes when Lee Browning fired straight at keeper Mikuael Ruiz from an angle following a defensive slip, though he had more time than he realised.

Browning could have had a penalty soon after when he was fouled in the box by Harris, but Dover went close to snatching the points in the final 10 minutes when Barry Cogan's cross found Purcell who was denied from close-range by a superb block by centre-back Ben Andrews.

Former Whites striker Frannie Collin (pictured) almost grabbed an unlikely winner in stoppage time but he was superbly denied by Ruiz, with the follow-up being deflected over.
