Driver injured in crash with police car

A MAN was taken to hospital with leg injuries after his car was involved in an accident with a police car on Saturday morning.

The crash happened just before 7am at the top of Station Road, at the junction with Frindsbury Road, Strood.

The junction at the top of Station Road was closed while the Kent Police Crash Investigation Unit examined the scene. The police Skoda and the blue Ford Escort were recovered for further examination.

The driver of the Escort, who is thought to be from the Charlton area of south London, was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital. It is understood he was released after treatment. The two policemen in the Skoda were not injured.

The police car was on its way to a two-vehicle accident on the Wainscott by-pass in which nobody was hurt.
