A MAN was thrown from his car and died following an accident on the A20 near Sidcup.

The man, believed to be in his 40s, was travelling Kent-bound and is believed to have lost control of the vehicle.

The blue Rover 414 saloon flipped onto its roof before coming to a standstill near Flamingo Park.

Ambulance crews and the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service attended the accident shortly after 6.30pm on Tuesday but despite efforts to revive the man, he was pronounced dead at the scene. He was taken to the mortuary at Queen Mary’s Hospital.

Police believe they know the identity of the man but a formal identification has yet to take place.

A police spokesman said: "At this stage it appears the vehicle lost control before hitting the nearside fencing and overturning.

"Police are keen to hear from anyone who saw the vehicle immediately before the incident or the incident itself."

Any witnessed are urged to call Sgt Paul Sanders at the Collision Investigation Unit based at Catford on 020 82851574 as soon as possible.
