A driver has been knifed at the wheel of his car while stuck in traffic.

The 42-year-old was stationary outside the Methodist Church in New Hythe Lane, Larkfield, between 5pm and 5.25pm on Saturday.

Police said a man approached the victim and stabbed him in the arm as he tried to fight off his attacker.

It is thought the wound was inflicted with a kitchen knife.

Police later arrested a 34-year-old man from East Maling at an address in Maidstone. He remains in custody.

Two other people arrested in connection with the incident have been released on bail.

The driver was taken to hospital for treatment.
