Drugs stolen from tent 'could prove fatal'

SIX bottles of a potentially fatal drug used as a heroin substitute by recovering addicts have been stolen from a tent on a temporary campsite in the county.

Three 50ml bottles and three 30ml bottles of methadone were taken by an unknown person or persons from the Broadstairs Folk Week site at Upton School, Broadstairs, sometime overnight between Monday and Tuesday.

A police spokesman said: "We have consulted with a local pharmacist who stated that this is a very dangerous drug and unsupervised use could prove fatal."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Margate police station urgently on 01843 231055.
