East Kent’s top fireman returns to his old school to present prizes at the annual lower school annual awards evening tonight (Thurs) at St George’s Church of England Foundation School, Broadstairs.

Former student Sean Bone-Knell, 41, is the east Kent area commander for Kent Fire and Rescue Service and oversees a region which spans from Lydd to Whitstable and Dover to Margate, and includes 22 stations with 624 staff.

Mr Bone-Knell joined KFRS in 1986 as a fire-fighter in Thanet. His 22 years with the service have involved roles at various stations across the county including Medway, Canterbury and Ashford.

For two years he was based at Maidstone Headquarters as Press Officer, before becoming Station Commander at Dover.
