Elderly man dies after heart attack in car

A MAN in his 70s died after he went into cardiac arrest and the car he was travelling in struck a lamp post.

The emergency services and air ambulance attended the crash at the junction of Bromley Road with Albermarle Road, Beckenham, at 1.50pm on Friday, but were unable to resuscitate the man.

A London ambulance spokesman said: "The crews treated an elderly man, who had gone into cardiac arrest.

"Extensive efforts were made to resuscitate the patient on the scene, but sadly he was pronounced dead by the air ambulance doctor at 2.36pm."
