Kent fans gear up for England and Wales Euro 2016 match

Football fever is sweeping Kent today ahead of today's hotly-anticipated England v Wales Euro 2016 match.

People have shared their hopes, expectations - and in some cases, indifference - to the big game, set to kick off at 2pm.

Homes and businesses across the county are adorned with England flags as patriotic fans show their support for their team.

Pubs are preparing for a busy afternoon, and some lucky schoolchildren and office workers are expected to be allowed to watch the match.

One company has gone one step further by promising its employees a special treat.

Marc Smith, a director at Metalfab Engineering in Rochester, said: "As England v Wales is during the day, we’re letting everyone have the afternoon off so that they can go to the pub, go home, whatever they want to do."

Shoppers in Chatham shared their excitement - of lack thereof - ahead of the all-important clash.

Vince Hooper, 47, lecturer from Chatham says: "It should be an excellent game because we have the rivalry with football, can't wait to see England beat Wales."

Mick Kelly, 45, a receptionist from Rochester said: "Two local teams, with lots of players who know each other, I think it will be a great game. And being an Englishman, I want England to win."

Andrew Steel, 34, a chef from Strood, said: "Not feeling too confident because of the results the other day, but I'm hoping England do win because we don't want to go home again, do we?"

Keilan Webster, 22, who works in Argos, said: "I'm really looking forward to the game. Hopefully we will come away with three points, and it would be nice to do away with the Welsh because they have really been rubbing it in our faces after the first game."
