The father of a baby girl with a rare liver condition is to go under the surgeon's knife in a bid to save her life.

James Beckett, from Snodland, is preparing to donate part of his liver to his 17 month old daughter Lilly. Without treatment, the little girl is unlikely to live much beyond her fourth or fifth birthday.

She has been on the UK transplant list for a liver for more than a month but so far a donor has not been found.

The two operations on both Mr Beckett and Lilly were due to take place on August 8, at King’s College Hospital, London, but have been rescheduled. The family are waiting for a new date.
