Eleven boys reported to be from Ashford have been questioned by French police following an alleged incident on a cross-Channel ferry.

The teenagers, who are thought to be from a youth football team, were detained in Calais on Friday night when their ferry docked.

A spokesman for the Foreign Office said today all had been released. He was not aware of the nature of the allegation or what the boys’ onward travel plans were.

The group is thought to be aged between 13 and 18.
