A deep fat fryer has caused a fire in a catering shop.

One of its fryers over heated and the fat inside caught fire.

Two pumps from Sheerness attended and were on the scene for about an hour.

A spokesman said: “The owner had dealt with the fire by placing a blanket over the fryer.

“There was a fair amount of smoke damage.”
