Firefighters called out to three fires in six hours

The Island's fire crews have had a busy start to the new year.

Crews from Eastchurch and Sheerness were called to a car alight on a driveway in Vincent Gardens, Sheerness.

It happened at 10.10pm yesterday (Wednesday).

The blaze was out within 15 minutes.

Eastchurch firefighters were called out again at 11.05pm yesterday to Thistle Hill Way in Minster.

Some rubbish in a skip had caught fire.

The crew put the small fire out in five minutes.

Finally, Queenborough responded to reports of paper alight outside a building in Rushenden Road, Queenborough.

When they arrived at 3.40am today (Thursday), there were 50 wooden pallets alight.

They used a hydrant to put out the blaze, which took almost an hour.
