New Year's resolutions you will want to keep

As we prepare to take the Christmas decorations down, thoughts naturally turn to New Year's resolutions.

But will you go for the usual goal of losing that festive weight or will you try one of our more alternative goals for 2018?

Scroll down to see if any of these inspire you.

1) Visit a place in Kent you've never been to

Our county is a really big place covering more land than London, Surrey, and Essex. So there's bound to be somewhere you've not discovered yet without going too far from your front door. Make sure you get out of your comfort zone and head to somewhere you've not been before.

2) Learn a decent party trick

Whether it's those signature dance moves you show off at the New Year's Eve party or the table magic you learnt from the magician at your children's party, you'll most certainly want to develop a decent party trick. There's plenty of ways to do this. Just log on to the internet.

3) Do a different form of exercise

If you feel like you're running out of motivation in the gym before you've even started then change your routine. Instead of forking out for the membership go for a walk or run by the seafront. Similarly, if you want to get inside and avoid the bad winter weather then you'll be looking to head for a class. Taking up swimming or taking up yoga can be a great way of changing things up and developing a new skill.

4) Wake up earlier

You'll be surprised with what you can do if you wake up an hour earlier each day. See it as an opportunity to clear all those Christmas box sets from your digital recorder or a moment to read the book you got over the festive season. You could also use the time for cleaning so you don't have to spend as long on it at the weekend.

5) Volunteer at a local charity

There are plenty of charities doing great things all over the county. All you need to do is donate some of your spare time to helping them out. Even if you just give an hour or two here and there that can make a big difference to some organisations.

Whatever you decide to do, we wish you a happy New Year and all the best for 2018.
