Gillingham chairman Paul Scally is delighted the club were this week handed a home game on the opening day of the season for the fourth straight year.

Gills welcome Bradford to Priestfield on Saturday, August 18. Gillingham won 1-0 against Cheltenham on the opening day of 2011-12 and drew 1-1 with the same opponents on the first day of the previous campaign.

A 5-0 home victory over Swindon Town kicked off the 2009-10 campaign and it was August 2008 the last time Gills played away from Priestfield on the opening day, when they drew 1-1 at Bournemouth.

Mr Scally, pictured, said: "It’s great to have a home start again. I am pleased to get the fixtures out.

"I hate the period of the summer before the fixtures come out with no football.

"Even though I’d rather we weren’t in this division, I’m looking forward to getting going again."
