Gillingham boss Mark Stimson is hoping to secure striker Febian Brandy on loan until the end of the season.

The Manchester United forward has been with the Gills for the last two months but his current loan deal expires after the weekend.

Stimson is keen to keep hold of the 20-year-old after several impressive displays.

Injuries and the recent spate of postponements have limited Brandy’s involvement and Stimson is keen to see a lot more of him.

Stimson said: "We’ve put a call into Manchester United to see if we can extend the loan. It was a long shot to get him to the club in the beginning and we surprised a few people by bringing him here.

"He’s enjoyed his time here and hopefully we can extend it."

Gillingham could face competition for the striker’s services as his performances have alerted several other clubs.

"I would have thought one or two others will be looking at him," said Stimson. "He’s certainly enjoyed himself here and got a couple of goals as well. The good thing about Fab is that every game he’s played in, he has had a massive effect."

Brandy has been recovering from an ankle injury in recent weeks and Stimson could throw him back into the starting eleven against Swindon at the weekend.
