Adam Miller backed Gillingham to avoid a second League 1 relegation in three seasons after helping them to a memorable victory over Leeds on Saturday.

Miller, pictured, ended his first season at the Gills with relegation, but feels the strength of unity among the players this time around gives them a fighting chance.

The midfielder has turned from unwanted burden to key player after he was loaned to League 2 Dagenham under a cloud in the winter and admitted his time with the Gills was up and said: "For myself it’s great to be back in the team and hopefully now we’re playing ourselves out of trouble.

"We’ve just got to get as many points as we can.

"I think we will stay up. We have a good togetherness at the minute and there is good banter. It’s vital that we all get on. I don’t think we really had that the year we went down.

"At the moment we’ve got the belief. We’ve scored a few more goals than we have been previously and as long as we can keep scoring goals, stay together and stay strong as a unit, we’ll be fine."
