Midfield pair Charlie Allen and Charlie Lee are hoping to be fit enough to play a part in the game against Morecambe on Saturday.
Both featured in Gillingham’s development game against a Dagenham XI at the training ground on Tuesday afternoon.
Lee has recovered from an illness that led to him being withdrawn at half-time during last week’s draw at Plymouth while Allen is back, wearing a cast, after being sidelined for three weeks with a broken hand.
Charlie Allen (pictured) has missed the last five games and manager Martin Allen’s biggest question will be how the midfielder copes with his hand strapped up.
Gills boss Allen said: "I just want to see that Charlie is comfortable with his hand (in a cast), which does play an important part, believe it or not, with his running. We will have to see how he copes.
"He has been out for three weeks, so we need to make sure he is
fit. I made a mistake last week with Charlie Lee. I played him too early, that was my mistake, not Charlie’s. I have to be careful I don’t do that now with Charlie Allen.
"Sometimes you take those gambles, you take those chances as a manager. Some I get right and some I get wrong.
"You want your match-winners out there playing. Charlie Allen is a match-winner and Charlie Lee is definitely a match-winner. We need these players involved."
Fellow midfielder Jack Payne sat out training earlier in the week, with a shin injury, which Martin Allen described as "relatively minor."
