Gillingham have named a strong reserve team for their penultimate Combination League fixture against Brentford.

The Gills have named a pair of on-trial full-backs for the match at Brentford’s training ground.

Playing on the left is Joe Carter (pictured), who was recently released by Charlton, while taking the right-back role is former Dagenham youngster Matt Pooley.

Carter, 18, had been with Charlton since the age of nine but after completing his scholarship the Championship side have decided to let him go. He will be a free agent in the summer and is already looking for a club.

Pooley has most recently been on the books of Glenn Hoddle’s academy in Spain.

Lance Cronin has returned in goal for the Gills and that means a return to the bench for youth keeper Daren Hawkes, who is wanted by Ebbsfleet tonight for their game against Staines.

Tony Sinclair and Danny Jackman have both recovered sufficiently from their respective injuries to make the starting eleven.

Gills: Cronin, Pooley, Carter, A Brown, King, Sinclair, Jackman, White, Oli, S Payne, Rooney. Subs: Davies, Benniman, Brunt, J Brown, Hawkes.
