Gillingham sign Peterborough United striker Rene Howe on a season long loan

Gillingham manager Mark Stimson has boosted his attacking options with the signing of Peterborough striker Rene Howe.

The six foot 23-year-old will go straight into Gillingham’s side on Saturday to face promotion-chasing Colchester.

Howe joined the Posh in 2007 from Kettering but has spent much of his time since on loan elsewhere.

His most recent spell was with Lincoln City, where he hit five goals in 14 League 2 starts.

Stimson was keen to add to his squad following Tuesday night’s disappointing defeat at Accrington in the FA Cup.

He is also targeting a defender and a winger and hopes to add more faces before the weekend.

Howe's arrival lessens the blow following Febian Brandy's decision to stay at Manchester United. Stimson had wanted to extend the forward's loan at Gillingham.
