With the transfer window looming, speculation remains rife that Simeon Jackson will quit Gillingham - but he’s determined not to let the rumours bother him.

Jackson (pictured) was named Canadian player of the year last week and at 22 is already making a name for himself at home and abroad.

He said: "It’s an honour to be named player of the year. I was shocked and didn’t even think I was in the nominations. To get that call and to be recognised at that level is brilliant.

"There has been a lot of linkage with me in the past few weeks and it’s around that time of the transfer window so that’s going to come again. I’m just concentrating on my next game.

"I’ll just keep my head down like I have always done."

Jackson was playing alongside on loan Febian Brandy against Stockport on Saturday and enjoyed linking up with the Manchester United striker once more in the 3-1 win.

Jackson said: "He’s that threat that no defender really wants to play against. We try and feed him the ball as much as we can and know that in and around the box he is going to create something."
