Strikers Adebayo Akinfenwa and Mark McCammon have given Gillingham boss Andy Hessenthaler food for thought after their second-half showing at Bury on Saturday.

Akinfenwa, pictured, and McCammon played together with devastating effect as the Gills took their goal tally for the season from three in all competitions to seven, on the back of a first half when they never looked like scoring.

"Food for thought with them two, definitely," admitted Hessenthaler.

"They are a couple of beasts. Adebayo Akinfenwa has scored and also set up Danny Spiller. Mark McCammon is what he is – he will flick things on and cause problems, and he got the corner for the first goal."

The Gills boss is also hoping to add Cody McDonald to his attacking options by the weekend after the forward failed a late fitness test at Bury, while the injured trio of Curtis Weston, Stanley Aborah and Dennis Oli are all hoping to play a part in the reserve game at home to Brentford on Wednesday (kick-off 2pm).

"Hopefully it will be positive on the injury front and it will give us more options," added Hessenthaler.
