Gillingham youngster Dean Rance could be heading out on loan as a final part of his recovery process.

The young midfielder, who stepped up from the youth ranks in the summer, has been sidelined with injury since pre-season.

Gills boss Andy Hessenthaler is keen to see some of his young pros get first-team football under their belts and Rance could be top of the list of those heading out.

Hessenthaler said: "Maybe a few of the young ones can go out and get some games, there are always clubs phoning up.

"Dean Rance needs another week of real extensive training and he will be one who needs to perhaps get out and play on loan for a month.

"He will do a good job for a team because he is young and hungry."

Meanwhile Hessenthaler is looking to arrange a friendly match to help some of his out-of-action players, such as Garry Richards.

Hessenthaler said: "Garry needs a bit more training and he needs a game. We’ll probably try and arrange something after Wycombe."
