Gillingham were forced to scrap their plans once more after their trip to Aldershot was postponed on Boxing Day morning.

It was the Gills’ third postponed match in recent weeks with a frozen pitch leaving them without a game this time around.

Aldershot had been confident of staging the League 2 fixture, stating that it was “game on” on their official website the previous day, but an inspection by referee Mick Russell at 11.40am on the morning of the game deemed parts of the pitch unplayable.

Gillingham’s game wasn’t the only match to be called off, with the whole of the Kent non-league football programme cancelled because of the continuing freezing temperatures.

The Gills are next back in action on Tuesday, December 28 at home to Port Vale. Kick-off is at 3pm.
