Gillingham could be without winger Myles Weston this weekend but other injuries in the squad have started to clear up.

Weston (pictured) limped off on Tuesday night after picking up an ankle injury in the first half of the 1-0 home defeat to Oxford.

But there is better news for the Gills elsewhere, as Matt Fish, Andy Frampton and Charlie Allen are all vying for a return to the team.

Striker Danny Kedwell is also back fit and available, following a hamstring injury, as he came off the bench late on in the midweek match at Priestfield.

Fish missed the Oxford game with swelling to his ankle but assistant boss John Schofield insists the management team won’t be rushed into bringing players back too soon.

"I don’t think there was any reason to risk him and it gives him another couple of days," said Schofield. "We have a big schedule coming up and have to protect our squad, which is what we are going to do and what we have been doing."

Schofield added: "Charlie Allen took a whack on the hand and it’s the same for him. He needs to make sure he is right and to miss a couple of games gives him the chance to play the next six, seven or eight, whatever we have left."

Defender Frampton was missing through illness against Oxford but he is expected to be available this weekend.
