Gillingham dominated their first round FA Youth Cup tie against Hayes & Yeading but were unable to find the target in a 1-0 defeat.

The Gills had the majority of possession in the opening half only to find themselves a goal down at the break.

Darren Hare’s under-18s were again in charge during the second half at Priestfield but were unable to find a way through Hayes’ defence.

Max Hubbard had slotted the ball home for the visitors from close range to give his side the lead after 39 minutes. His goal turned out to be the winner.
