Girl injured at pedestrian crossing in Halfway

A teenage schoolgirl was lucky not be seriously injured on Tuesday morning at a pedestrian crossing near the Halfway traffic lights.

The 13-year-old, believed to be a pupil from nearby Danley Middle School, suffered friction burns to her foot and had to be taken to Medway Maritime Hospital, when she was involved in a collision on the crossing at Minster Road.

PC Gavin Scales, speaking at the scene, said: "We believe that the lights were still against her when she crossed into the path of a car.

"This has happened before with pupils so I urge them to be careful before someone gets killed."
