Girl struck by van loses fight for life

A TEENAGE girl seriously injured after being knocked down by a van in Gillingham last month has died in hospital.

It is believed Hannah Mickleburgh, 19, of Allington Road, Gillingham, was trying to cross the A2 London Road opposite the Tesco store at Rainham Mark at about 3.30am on Sunday, March 14.

She was struck after getting off a courtesy bus from Amadeus nightclub in Strood. The incident involved a white Fiat van being driven by a man in his late 20s who is not from the Medway area.

She died in the intensive care unit at Medway Maritime Hospital in Gillingham. The coroner has been informed and an inquest will be held.
