Girl struck by van suffers head injuries

A GIRL of 11 was seriously hurt when she was involved in a collision with a van.

It happened in Dargets Road in Walderslade, near Chatham. Several police vehicles and an ambulance crews were called to the scene at about 5.15pm on Saturday.

The vehicle involved was a blue Mercedes panel van.

The area was cordoned off while the emergency services dealt with the incident and traffic was diverted away from the area, causing some congestion.

The young pedestrian was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital, Gillingham with head injuries.
